West Easton Council members in attendance at last night’s meeting voted unanimously to advertise for a part-time Chief of Police for the borough (DePaul, Dees, Lewis, James, Mammana affirming).
The Chief of Police advertisement will appear in The Express-Times, as well as online.
The advertisement will direct potential candidates to obtain an application from Borough Hall. Qualifications for the position will be provided with the application.
Hiring a Chief of Police is another step toward West Easton fulfilling its requirements in obtaining an ORI number for Law Enforcement purposes.
Once a Chief of Police is selected, he will assist Council in obtaining the required equipment and supplies needed to begin law enforcement duties. He will also become a member of a hiring committee to employ two part-time police officers for the Borough, at a later date.
In related business, Council unanimously approved Councilman Lewis’ Travel Request for enrollment, travel, and lodging reimbursement to a 2-day PSAB TEAM seminar ($475). He will be attending the Pennsylvania Municipal Legal Update that relates to Police.
