As reported on WFMZ.com, a resident of West Easton drove his SUV into a building on the NJ side of the Free Bridge that connects Easton, PA and Phillipsburg, NJ.

At about 3 a.m. Saturday, our own Vincent T. King, Jr., 22, of West Easton drove across the bridge, failed to make a left turn, and slammed into the corner of a building being renovated. The impact resulted in all three floors of the building collapsing onto King’s  vehicle.

Police believe King was driving under the influence.

King only suffered minor injuries in the accident, which may be why he was able to make an attempt to leave the scene, though unsuccessfully. King was reportedly tackled by police and now has the added charge of resisting arrest included with a charge of DUI against him.

It is not clear how fast the car was traveling, although police are reviewing security camera footage along the Free Bridge.

Court records indicate King’s drivers license was revoked for a year after he pleaded guilty to a separate DUI in January. That case happened in Easton last fall.
