Last night I received a phone call asking if I saw the WFMZ.com website.
After being directed to the online news report, I read that the work release inmates had been moved out of the borough and the facility was being prepped as a possible field hospital. It was also reported on their television broadcast.
I believe that the vast majority, if not all, but one in the community, have no problem with the facility being used to fight the pandemic treat those who are suffering from Covid-19.
I certainly have no problem with, or any fear of those who may be treated, or quarantined at the facility. Helping those in need is part of what makes West Easton great.
Northampton County not informing West Easton of the plan before they notified the news media does present a problem.
I’m sure our Borough Manager will be receiving numerous calls this morning from residents with questions.
Joan, like the rest of us, won’t have any answers.
Since Northampton County hasn’t given us a name or phone number for our residents to call for answers to those questions, we’ll be left in the dark until they do.
Is a simple courtesy phone call from Northampton County, too much to expect?
At least there is a silver lining in not having been given a heads-up. When our one resident puts in her RTKs asking for every email, text, phone record, and smoke signal that discussed the work release facility being converted to a field hospital, it can be answered quickly. “No record exists.”
