At the upcoming Council Meeting on Monday evening a resolution will be presented to Council for a formal vote that supports Ukraine in their fight against Russia’s invasion, by which Putin started an unprovoked war.
Unlike an ordinance, which requires advertising, and usually creates a municipal law with penalties, resolutions are generally enactments that reflect the opinion of the governing body.
Resolutions deal with matters in which the Council wants to convey their opinion to the public and officially be on record as either supporting, or being against the matter.
I wrote the resolution knowing it is purely symbolic. It offers no monetary support for Ukraine, which cannot be done with taxpayer funds. The proposed Ukraine Resolution can be found HERE.
If it is favorably voted on, it will record that West Easton supports Ukraine and those who support the fight against Putin’s war.
Fr. Paul Makar, pastor of West Easton’s Holy Ghost Ukranian Catholic Church, is expected to be in attendance.
