West Easton Council met last night for their reorganization meeting, and following the nominations, changes were made to the positions of President, Vice-President, and Pro Tem.

Mayor Dan DePaul opened the meeting and held the gavel, as is customary during Council Reorganizations.

He accepted nominations.

A single nomination for President of Council was made by Mr. Paul James, who nominated me to replace him as Council President, and it was accepted unanimously.

Councilman James explained during his making the nomination that, due to time restrictions from work obligations and other factors, it was his desire to step down from the position he has held for the last two years.

I nominated Mr. James for Vice-President and his appointment to that position was also unanimous. Mr. James’ experience as President of Council and leadership will be invaluable in moving West Easton forward.

Mr. James also nominated Mr. Ron Nixon for the Pro Tem position and again, the vote was unanimous. Mr. Nixon is now third in line, replacing former-Councilman Lewis who was not re-elected to Council in November.

Other items of interest in the meeting:

Mr. Nixon, who had won both a 2-year and 4-year seat, declared that he would be taking the 4-year seat.

The 2-year seat will now be filled by appointment of Council.

Mayor Dan DePaul swore in Mr. Nixon, Mrs. Jones Brown, and Mr. Mammana prior to starting the meeting.

All had won election to Council on November 5th.

Councilman David Bolash, who also won election in November, could not be sworn in last night, as his required Affidavit of Residency was not notarized. He will be sworn in and take his seat at a later date.
