West Easton Borough Council will be holding public meetings earlier in 2017, than it has in past years,
By a vote of 5-1 (T. Nodoline dissenting, Lewis absent) Council approved a start-time change from 7:00pm to 6:30 pm. Meetings will remain scheduled for the second and fourth Monday of each month.
It is hoped that the earlier start will make attending meetings more appealing to residents, while easing the often extended hours of long meetings for those Councilmen who aren’t retired.
I had proposed a start time of 6pm. Council president Dan DePaul offered a time of 6:30pm as another option.
A suggestion from Mayor Gross to get public input on any change was taken up by DePaul, that resulted in two attendees offering their opinions. One liked 6:00 while the other suggested 6:00 and 7:00, dependent upon Daylight Savings Time being in effect.
“Sounds like 6:30 to me,” DePaul jokingly responded.
In the end I voted to compromise on the 6:30pm motion made and seconded. Councilman Tom Nodoline, who has left meetings early because of late hours, offered no discussion as to his reason for his dissenting vote.
