The Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church will be re-dedicating the building across from the church, referred to as “The Chapel,” on Sunday, November 6th.

Built in 1914 and formerly known as “The Wesley Chapel,” it is one of West Easton’s oldest landmarks. The building just had a new heating system installed and its interior repainted.

Archpriest Fr. Daniel Troyan will hold a short church service (Moleben) at 3:00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Church, followed by a blessing of “The Chapel,” and an Open House from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the renovated building. Finger food and refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.

At 5:00 p.m. Professor Ihur Mirchuk of West Easton will give a presentation on the Theology of the Maidan. It will be a slide and video presentation on the present situation in Ukraine since the Maidan Revolution in Kyiv. It will encompass the sacrifices made and desire for freedom and democracy in Ukraine following the fall of the USSR 25 years ago.

The Chapel had formerly been a Wesleyan Chapel until its closing in 1993, due a membership that dwindled down to only a dozen people. It was purchased in 1998. It will be serving the needs of Holy Ghost Church community and the people of West Easton. Presently there are religious education classes held at The Chapel for children and adults, Summer Church Camp for children, AA meetings are held there at 7:00 a.m. on Monday mornings, and the Ukrainian American Veterans Post will use it as their post.
