Having been performed by a certified engineering company over a 3-day period the trestle report provided a true evaluation of the condition of the trestles spanning Iron and Spring Streets. It was hoped that the trestles might be incorporated into the county trails system, making them eligible for grants to rehabilitate them.
The reports ultimately satisfied an unfunded directive from PennDot that these in-depth inspections had to be conducted. The directive followed shortly after the engineering firm completed their inspection and was still preparing their report.
The engineering firm concluded that it would not be economically feasible to save the trestles.
