Constable Tricia Mezzacappa’s trial to answer a charge of filing a false police report with the PSP has been moved once again. It may finally take place on March 1 March 2  March 8 .

The charge is a result of Mezzacappa calling the Pennsylvania State Police, back in February of 2019. Following a dispute with her neighbor, she reported a black man pointed a gun at her head as she was parking her car, but according to her, she was able to draw her weapon and fire off a shot, missing her alleged assailant.

Is it Karma?

Following an investigation of Mezzacappa’s claim, the DA’s office believe they have the evidence to prove she lied, wasting valuable resources of the PSP.

The two years elapsed from incident to trial has been the result of numerous delays caused by the pandemic shutdown, motion hearings, changing of lawyers, weather, and Mezzacappa failing to appear for a previously scheduled trial date.

In the latter incident, Mezzacappa was picked up on a bench warrant and spent a night in jail, before appearing before a Northampton judge to have a cash bail set.
