As reported on The Express-Times, a West Easton woman is facing theft charges after allegedly shoplifting almost $200 worth of merchandise from a Kohl’s department store in Lower Nazareth Township.
Carmela Jessica Hallett, 34, of the 900 block of Ridge Street, entered Kohl’s at the Northampton Crossings on Friday morning. Colonial Regional police reported she took various pieces of women’s and children’s clothing, along with jewelry, and put it into her cart before going to a fitting room.
Hallett then left the fitting room and placed some women’s clothing, as well as some jewelry back on the displays, reports state.
When she exited Kohls she was detained by a security officer, who found unpaid items in a tote bag under her jacket. The total value of the items amounted to more than $190.00.
Hallett was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Barner, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured. The judge set bail conditions advising that Hallett cannot enter any Kohl’s stores, and must be fingerprinted and comply with a pretrial supervision program.
She is due back in court 11 a.m. May 19.
