Republican candidate for Senate, Mehmet Oz, is losing ground among animal lovers. He is under fire for killing more than 300 dogs in research experiments, according to a political ad produced by the Democrat’s Senate Majority PAC (SMP).
While it won’t change the minds of the extremist Republicans who can brush away mass murders of school children, as these 2nd Amendment warriors fight in support of selling assault rifles to 18 year-olds, it is peeling away independents and moderates. Pet owners don’t like the idea of voting for a snake oil salesman involved in the killing of puppies.
It may be enough to widen the tightening race between Democrat candidate Fetterman and Oz.
It’s a powerful and disturbing message from SMP that is finding traction, as Oz has made statements that either supports the experiments because it benefited humans, or denies knowledge of them during the two decades they were conducted.
The ad has been running since October 11th, and can be seen below.
Oz spoke to the York Rotary Club last Wednesday where he faced questions regarding his opponent and ads targeting him. He stated the ads had no validity. “But whatever research was being done must have helped humans at some level,” said Oz.
Killing kittens to produce mittens would help humans at some level, as well, I suppose.
Oz has previously claimed he knew nothing of the abuse, or the killings, as they were happening. He only found out about the cruel experiments when the research ended, according to him.
The report that the commercial is based on alleges Oz was part of the team at Columbia University that did research on animals between 1989 and 2010, so according to Oz, he had no clue they were killing puppies during the time he was involved.
Oz claimed SMP was “forced” to remove the ads from the airwaves, because they were false.
SMP spokesperson Veronica Yoo said in a statement Thursday, “Any implication or suggestion from the Oz campaign that these ads were ‘taken down’ against our intent is categorically false.”
“This lie is a clear indication that Oz’s losing campaign is trying to distract voters from the facts presented in our ads: Mehmet Oz supervised the lab that killed more than 300 dogs. Oz has put himself first and screwed over Pennsylvanians so frequently and in so many ways that we’re constantly creating new ad campaigns to remind voters of how unfit he is to be their Senator.”
SMP also said they have received no communication from Pennsylvania stations or from Comcast indicating they intend to take down the ads.
Considering Oz is a proven liar who sold “miracle” diet pills that were useless in order to enrich himself, I don’t believe him when he says he didn’t know about the experiments, and the suffering inflicted on innocent dogs.
Oz has also wavered on the subject of abortion. In 2019 he supported Roe v. Wade.
Now, his campaign website says he is “100% pro-life.” Audio last week, first published by The Daily Beast, created more questions about where Oz stands on the issue. In the recording from a tele-town hall held a week before the Republican primary in May, Oz said he believed “life starts at conception.”
“If life starts at conception, why do you care what age the heart starts beating at? It’s, you know, it’s still murder, if you were to terminate a child whether their heart’s beating or not,” he said, speaking to the conservative crowd.
Now that he has won his primary, he is telling women he supports abortion only in the case of incest, rape, or to save the life of the mother.
So, is it murder to abort immediately after conception, or after a heartbeat is detected? Is he 100% against a woman’s right to choose, or more like 50-75%?
Oz hasn’t made it clear. It differs, depending on the crowd he is speaking to. He talks like the politically inexperienced television personality, he is. He’ll say anything to make the sale and dupe his watchers into buying his bulls***.
