Thank You Neighbors

When the snowfall ended yesterday West Easton had more than 2′ of snow. Last time I looked at the total, it was 27″, but that was while it was still snowing.

When it was done, I opened my door to join the community in doing what we all had to do. Clear our sidewalks and dig ourselves out.

I know what awaited me and it’s the reason I no longer like the 4-letter word I enjoyed in my youth, when shoveling so much snow was little more than a delay imposed by my parents, before I was allowed to grab my sled and join my friends.

My car was buried on all sides from the plow, as expected, but one neighbor had made a pass on my sidewalk with his snowblower. It was a welcome sight to see any snow removed. Thank you, John.

Another neighbor, Jerry, arrived with his snowblower. Though it’s probably a disappointment to one, he saved me from a heart attack. He spent the time getting the snow from around my car removed, and my sidewalks fully cleared.

At my age, I want it to snow only one day every year – Christmas Eve.

1″ at most, which would be pleasant on the eyes, Christmas Day, but I would expect it to be melted away by nightfall.

Yeah, at my age, I’m not a big fan of the white crap. Especially a years worth of it in one day.
