On August 24, the Trump Administration approved the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for a FEMA grant under the Lost Wages Assistance program. FEMA’s grant funding will allow Pennsylvania to provide $300 per week — on top of their regular unemployment benefit — to those unemployed due to COVID-19. Background: On August 8, President Trump took action to support American families and is urging Congress to continue his efforts to provide resources to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The President’s actions included:
- Signing a presidential memorandum to provide temporary payroll tax relief for American families who have been hit hard by the coronavirus.
- Ensuring Americans who have lost their job and want nothing more than to return to work have the unemployment benefits they need during this crisis.
- Signing an executive order to help ensure Americans facing financial hardships due to the coronavirus do not face eviction or foreclosure.
- Signing a presidential memorandum to provide student loan relief for Americans who have faced financial harm due to the coronavirus.
