Lamont McClure and the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) announced that County Council approved $2,798,100 for 87 Grow NORCO grants.

Among those 87 grants awarded was one for West Easton in the amount of $35,000 toward the purchase of a brand new police vehicle. West Easton’s share toward the purchase of a Ford Interceptor SUV will be $17,000.

West Easton’s Police Department currently has 3 used vehicles that were either donated, or bought for a few thousand dollars from law enforcement agencies that purchased new vehicles.

While the used vehicles allowed Police Chief Mahady and his officers to patrol the borough, it was the intention to eventually replace the used vehicles with new ones, when the opportunity for grants became available.
