Where’s The U.S. News About California Aquifers Now Poisoned By Fracking Fluids?

contaminatedwaterWhile our attention is being focused on a few instances Ebola patients entering the U.S., the corporate controlled media is ignoring the findings that millions of gallons of fracking fluid has found its way into the California aquifers.

The fracking industry illegally injected about 3 billion gallons of fracking wastewater into central California drinking-water and farm-irrigation aquifers, the state found after the US Environmental Protection Agency ordered a review of possible contamination.

According to documents obtained by the Center for Biological Diversity, the California State Water Resources Board found that at least nine of the 11 hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, wastewater injection sites that were shut down in July upon suspicion of contamination were in fact riddled with toxic fluids used to unleash energy reserves deep underground. The aquifers, protected by state law and the federal Safe Water Drinking Act, supply quality water in a state currently suffering unprecedented drought.

The documents also show that the Central Valley Water Board found high levels of toxic chemicals – including arsenic, thallium, and nitrates – in water-supply wells near the wastewater-disposal sites.

People will ask me why I watch French, British, Japanese, and Russian news outlets. It isn’t because I need to brush up on my foreign languages (I barely speak English fluently). These news stations, broadcast in English, not only provide me with alternative viewpoints on world issues, but also provide U.S. based stories that aren’t reported on our own networks.

You would think that the Oil & Gas Industry illegally pumping poison into California’s drinking water would have the President and Congress looking to find those responsible, or that our major news networks would be promoting it as their lead story.

Nope. Google search the term, “California aquifers contaminated”. The results will be from foreign news, or blogs.

Unlike oil tar balls washing up on a beach, poisoned aquifers can’t be seen and the cancers that result from it are years off. By then, Oil & Gas will argue that nobody can prove they are to blame. It’s all about money.

Here’s a stock tip: Invest heavily in Nestle’s. They are the leader in the bottled water industry.

If the Oil & Gas Industry will blatantly disregard the laws of a state with one of the most strict environmental protection guidelines, what worries do they have in Pennsylvania, where the current Governor would allow them to frack in protected areas and his opponent only seeks more money in extraction fees.
