Willing to help make West Easton’s first National Night Out since 2004 a success, Safety First Volunteer Fire Company and Suburban EMS will each have a vehicle at the West Easton Municipal Building for residents and children to admire during the 2-hour event on August 1st.

Chief Bill Bogari Jr., of SFVFC will have a fire truck brought to the building and Suburban EMS will be parking a Rescue Squad vehicle there. West Easton’s National Night Out will run from 6pm – 8pm. Food and refreshments will be provided, but covered dishes to be shared are welcome.

Since West Easton is still in the planning stages of creating a part-time police force, Stockertown’s Chief of Police, John Soloe, has accepted an invitation to join our community event and be our guest.

Chief Soloe provided much information to West Easton’s Safety Committee, as they began investigating last year, the cost and feasibility of forming our own part-time police force.

Chief Soloe is an advocate of small communities that depend solely on PSP for protection, forming police departments and hope that more will follow our example, just as we have followed Stockertown’s.

In addition to the Chief, the Stockertown police department is comprised of one full-time and multiple part-time officers serving rotating shifts. Pennsylvania State Police assumes protection duties of Stockertown when they do not have their own officer on duty.

Stockertown’s budget for their police department in 2017 is $146,013.

West Easton Council members who support the formation of a part-time police department hope to model it’s department after that of Stockertown.
