5157242My favorite radio personality is finally returning to the Lehigh Valley.

Samantha Layne, formerly of the Michaels and Layne Show on 99.9 The Hawk, who was unceremoniously let go earlier this year by new owners, has found a home in Allentown, PA.

Almost immediately upon the discovery by listeners that she was no longer a part of our morning commute, a Facebook page was started that gained more than 2000 followers to boycott 99.9 The Hawk (WODE), in protest of the new owners decision.

Now, good news has arrived for fans of “Sam.”

As reported by Radio Ink magazine, Allentown’s Real Rocker ZZO-FM is adding Samantha Layne to its on-air lineup as afternoon host. Layne started her career in Cleveland, she also did a stint at Jerry Lee’s WBEB in Philadelphia. She’s spent the past 13 years co-hosting Morning Drive at WODE [99.9 The Hawk] in the Lehigh Valley. Layne will also take on Promotion Director duties for the Clear Channel station.

“Samantha is one of the most beloved on-air talents in the Lehigh Valley, and we’re thrilled to have her joining the team at 95.1 ZZO,” said Jeff Hurley, Regional Program Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Harrisburg/ Allentown/Reading/Lancaster/Williamsport. “Samantha is joining a dream team of rock talent, including the legendary Bearman and Keith.”

Radio Ink doesn’t provide the information we all wanted to know. In a covert operation that required my wearing a Ninja Turtles outfit I was able to enter the WZZO radio station’s headquarters undetected, in order to find out her time slot and starting date.

“Sam” will be on the air beginning January 6, 2014 and will assume the 3-7PM Drive Time slot currently hosted by ZZO’s Mackenzie.
