Most Residents Pleased With West Easton Plowing After Snow Event

snow1The predicted snow amounts of 2-4″ early yesterday caught some West Easton residents by surprise this morning when about 6″ fell overnight. The National Weather Service actually updated their prediction yesterday evening, but it was missed by many.

Residents were also pleasantly surprised to see roads within the borough plowed with at least one pass made by 7:30 a.m. and the plow still moving throughout West Easton. Once completed, it is expected that salt will be applied to melt what remains on the road surface.

Within my own neighborhood, my neighbors were busily shoveling and using snow throwers to clear walkways and dig out their cars.

“Looks like they got it right this time,” said one resident on 2nd St., referring to the previous lack of care given to the roads in recent ice storms that hit us earlier in the month.

On 3rd St., residents also had no complaints in seeing the plow busily pushing snow. Their only worry was the concern expressed by most I spoke with. “I hope they salt this time,” said one.

snow2The only complaints were from a couple of people who give unwarranted criticism of plowed snow that was left in the expected mound against their vehicle. “There’s more on my side of the street, than that side,” they told me.

Digging out a car is always the worst part, following a deep snow event, but it is unavoidable and it always seems the worst of it ends up against our own vehicle. Sometimes it does, but we simply have to grin and bear it.

Take your time when removing snow. Take breaks, as necessary and small bites, if using a shovel. Don’t over-exert yourself.

Let me also remind residents that snow should never be thrown back out into the street. There is an ordinance prohibiting it, as every town has.

Another clipper system, with a predicted 2″ of snow is expected on Monday.
