I received word just minutes ago (7:45) that the Memorial Day Remembrance Service scheduled for 9:00 AM this morning has been canceled.

Concerns of predicted heavy rains have washed out the event.

Mayor Gerald Gross will still place a wreath at the War Memorial at 9 AM.

Remember those veterans who gave their lives, as well as those currently in harms way, in service to our country.

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then slowly lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. On Memorial Day the flag should be displayed at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff.
