Huge Upset In West Easton Primary Sinks Council President Kelly Gross

165 registered voters in West Easton went to the polls for the primary.  102 Democrats and 63 Republicans, to be exact. The results were surprising.

It appears, in an unofficial tally, incumbent Democrat Kelly Gross, who serves as West Easton Council President, has been pushed off the ballot for November’s general election.

Henry Nodoline received more write-in votes on the Democrat side than Kelly Gross, who was listed on the Democrat ballot. His vote total gave him the 3rd 4-year seat available, knocking Gross off the November ballot. Nodoline also received enough votes on the Republican side that results in him being listed on both the Democrat and Republican ticket in November.

Ronald Nixon (D) and Robert Lewis (D) handily won a place on the November ballot for 4-year seats, as did Matthew Dees (D), for the lone 2-year seat available.

Council appointee,Vernon Moore (D), promoted by Councilman Tom Nodoline (D), received approximately 10 votes (by my count), but some of those votes were scattered throughout numerous races he wasn’t vying for, or not allowed by the election board because of the name alterations used by voters. This was likely caused by voter confusion in using the voting machine’s electronic keypad and knowing how to correctly place a write-in vote.

As an example of that confusion, a Constable position for West Easton that is actually not needed in reality, but always appears on the ballots, unofficially garnered 4 votes for Moore and 2 votes for Nodoline.

Unofficial results also show Vernon Moore received more write-ins from Republicans than Democrats.

In the uncontested Republican primary, Tricia Mezzacappa received votes in both the 4-year and 2-year seats to place her on the ballot in the general election.

The results are as follows in order of votes received:
