In a previous post that had a video of Safety First’s 50th Anniversary Parade I mentioned in an update that I had made contact with the person who did the conversion from old 8mm film to digital (computer/DVD player compatible).

Mr. Ray Morris, who did that conversion, has an offer that some sitting on old film and other media will find too good to refuse.

Mr. Morris is looking for historical recordings. Parades, floods, organization events, or any other film record of historical interest to the Lehigh Valley. He can convert VHS, 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, slides, etc.

If you have such things sitting in a box somewhere in an attic or basement, Mr. Morris will convert it to digital for free.

There is only one condition to the free offer. He would need permission to post a copy of his completed work to his Youtube account. A few of the videos he has already posted will give you an idea of what he is looking for in the way of “historical.”

Mr. Morris will also do conversions of other films you have, but if they aren’t historical in nature (he will let you know), such as birthday parties, weddings, and such, they would not qualify for the free offer.

His rates for conversion run 25% less than a local brick and mortar store, he told me.

One West Easton couple is currently looking for their old 8mm recording of that same Safety First 50th Anniversary Parade.

Mr. Glen Ackerman is the then young man seen in the Fireman’s 50th Anniversary film with his own 8mm camera, filming the person taking that recording, from across the street.

Mr. Ackerman and his wife, Kate, believe their 8mm film reel of that parade is still in their possession, in a box “somewhere.” Having mentioned this to Mr. Morris, he excitedly hoped they can locate that film.

Mr. Morris would prefer contact through his email, should you wish to discuss something you have that you would like converted, or you believe is historical in nature.
