When Mr. Peter Mammana was appointed as a Councilman on March 27th, his appointment created the situation of having no Vacancy Board in West Easton. A sitting Councilperson can not serve on the Vacancy Board.

Seeking a resident to resolve that situation, volunteers were sought at the April 10th meeting, after no resident responded to a notice placed on the Borough’s website.

Mr. Jeff Breidinger, Jr., who previously volunteered to serve on the Wilson Recreation Board, as a Representative for West Easton, again volunteered to fill the empty Vacancy Board position. Though the Council meeting was filled with residents, Jeff was the only individual to volunteer.

He was unanimously appointed by all 7 Council members present at the meeting.

A Vacancy Board is required of West Easton in the event that a vacancy on Council is not filled by the remaining Council members within 30 days. The Vacancy Board would then have 15 days to make an appointment.

A vacancy can occur if a Councilperson resigns, dies, or is removed through legal means.
